Getting Your Very Own Taylor and Lupa

So, you like what you see here on the site, and you'd like us to come and teach classes at your shop, festival, convention, birthday party, Lamaze session, heart-to-heart talk with your significant other, or other event. Here are some guidelines and things to consider:

--Booking us: We are a two-for-one deal. We're very in love with each other and we hate to be separated. So basically, we prefer that if you want one of us, you also want the other one of us along, too. However, we do not teach all our classes together, so you won't just be paying for two people and getting one person worth of classes. Generally speaking, at a one-day event, we'll each teach one to two classes apiece individually, and then one together, but this can be tweaked as necessary. We like doing both individual and joint classes, and a mix of both seems to work out for everyone.

--What we offer: You can see the classes Lupa offers here, and the classes that Taylor presents here. If you happen to have read something we wrote in a book or article that you'd like us to specifically present on that isn't listed here, feel free to let us know--we're pretty flexible about these things. We can also do stuff on the usual suspects, like Wicca 101 and grounding/centering/shielding, but we're kind of hoping that you'll like the fact that that's not a part of our usual repertoire. If you ask us to present on something like that, expect us to be anything but "normal" about it.

--Scheduling: As of this writing, both of us generally work 40 hours a week (unless we're between contracts, in which case we're job hunting for the next contract 40 hours a week). This is almost always Monday through Friday daytime stuff. That means that our primary availability outside of the immediate Portland, OR area is on the weekends. In Portland and immediate areas (30 mile or so radius), we can do stuff on weekday evenings or weekends, whatever works best for you. If you're within a reasonable drive (say, four or so hours) we can come up on a Friday night and present on Saturday, and then head home Saturday evening or Sunday. Beyond that, we'll probably end up needing a day to drive or fly out, and another day to drive or fly back. If you're all the way across the country, we're probably going to want to head back home Sunday so we can take Monday off to recover--the last time we worked the day after flying back from the East Coast we didn't recover for the entire week!

--Accomodations: We're not incredibly picky--you don't have to put us in a five-star hotel or anything. Somebody's guest room will be just fine. We are light sleepers, so if you have nocturnal pets or live in a noisy area, we may end up being zombies the next day, which isn't conducive to good presentations. If the event will be outdoors, and we're flying, we'd really appreciate shelter. Tents work, but we admit we love cabins, even if they're just popup trailers. We can only afford to bring so much on a plane with us, and if our clothing gets wet, we're in trouble. For driving-distance outdoor events, we do have a tent and tarps, though if you have a spare cabin, we like cabins (hint, hint ;). As far as food goes, if you're willing to feed us, awesome--we're both omnivores, and about the only thing we can't handle is really spicy food. Taylor is also allergic to penicillin, so avoid blue cheese. If you can't feed us, let us know where we can get relatively affordable munchies so we don't starve to death. Also, Lupa is mildly hypoglycemic, so a source for healthy snacks throughout the day is appreciated, even if we just end up making a run to the grocery store or bring something with us. Neither one of us do well on purdely vegetarian fare, so if we need to supplement with meat at a vegetarian event, we can make arrangements. Just warn us what will be available.

--Travel fees: We love presenting at festivals and shops, but travelling takes a lot of money, especially with increasing gas prices. If we are driving to your event, we expect that you will help cover the costs of our travel. We don't charge shops and events lots of money for the privilege of having us, because we know the costs involved in setting things up. However in return we ask that our travel costs be compensated, as otherwise they come out of any money we'd make at the event (which runs at a counter purpose for us doing the event in the first place). If we are driving to your event, we expect partial to full compensation for gas costs. If we need to fly to your event, you will need to pay for our flight (We make rare exceptions for this, so please contact us to negotiate).

--Class fees: As a general rule, we charge $15.00 an hour per person for classes at a shop; most of our classes are 1 hour long, though we do have a few 2-hour sessions. We also like to offer a discount for those who show up for the whole day--usually $35.00 for three one hour classes. However, we've also had deals where the shop was accustomed to charging more for classes, and we've worked out deals for that--we've even given away a free book to anyone who showed up for the entire day if the classes were relatively high-priced. Our usual cut is 30% to the shop and 70% for us. Again, though, we can negotiate as necessary.

--Event Admissions: We expect to get in for free at an event we present at. Since you are using our names to help advertise your event, we figure that the cost of allowing us to get in for free will be more than compensated by people that may come for our workshops.

--Books and book signings: We're used to hauling a big bag o' books around with us to events, including on the plane. However, if you wish to order your own copies of our books for us to sign instead, just let us know. Generally, we prefer to sign books in conjunction with presenting workshops.

--Extra stuff: Lupa sometimes likes to bring along a few pieces of jewelry and other small bits of artwork to sell along with the books, in addition, one or both of us may want to give readings (Lupa reads totem cards, while Taylor does tarot/intuitive readings) inbetween classes or while the other person is presenting solo. Please let us know if this will be a problem in any way.

--Stipends/speaking fees: At events/festivals/honorariums, where a stipend is offered to speakers, we ask for a minimum of $300 plus travel fees and accomodations. Again, this is open to *some* negotiation depending upon the event.

We hope this makes things clear. If you don't think you can cover all our expenses but would like us to present at your event, email us and we'll see what we can work out. Contact us for more information!
