Wall Hangings/Decor

Painted bone wall hanging - I painted a fisher scapula with a scene of a river and some plants, along with tiny pawprints along the shoreline. It has a loop of waxed linen cord to hang from, and is 2" long not including the loop. $4.50

Deer antler wall hanging - I took a nicely weathered old piece of deer antler and drilled some holes for beaded dangles. The dangles are msde with brown waxed linen cord and are decorated with glass and wood beads, as well as a bone feather. $15.00

Rabbit wall hanging - I wrapped a 12" metal hoop in brown leather, and then stretched a scrap of grey-brown rabbit hide over it. I stitched an old jawbone (raccoon? possum?) to it, and added an old bone spar and an old animal molar as dangles. From the top of the hoop I suspended a few random bits of bone. $25.00

Deer scapula wall hanging - Last year I left a bunch of bones out on the roof of my old apartment to weather. They got covered in a thin layer of moss, which I then dried out. I sanded the moss off this whitetail scapula, but left enough of a stain to add some color. I then glued a piece of green leather to the center and painted a fern front in gold on it. I finished the wall hanging up with a pair of artificial sinew dangles with bone, metal and resin beads. The entire thing, dangles included, is about 12" long. $17.00

Turtle shell wall hanging - I painted this 6" long red slider shell with a bear's face on a green background. I then added waxed linen cord and assorted bead dangles at the bottom, and a cord to hang it by. Very happy with how this turned out! $18.00

Goat wall hanging - I had this broken piece of jawbone, and thought it looked rather like a goat's head, so I painted it to look that way. 5 1/2" long, 5" high, painted with acrylics and sealed with acrylic spray. It has a braided grey/white/black yarn loop for hanging as well. $9.00

Coyote wall hanginging - I started with an 8" metal hoop and wrapped it in black deerskin and a strip of coyote fur that used to edge the hood of a coat. I then hand-painted a 3" long pewter coyote pendant and suspended it from the top of the hoop. This is definitely a one of a kind piece! $23.00

Deer skull wall hanging - This is actually an older piece of mine, but as it got damaged in a shop I had it consigned in, I completely repainted it--same pattern as before. Poor guy had one of his antlers sawed off, probably as a trophy. He needs a good home and a nice wall to hang on to watch the goings-on! $25.00

Turtle wall hanging - This is a box turtle carapace; it's been chipped and broken around the edges due to aging and weathering. I painted it brown and green, and added a small leather disc that I painted as a globe to represent the turtle that supports the world in the tradition from numerous cultures (all hail A'Tuin!). It has a braided sinew hanging cord and a couple of beaded sinew dangles. The shell itself is 4" x 3". $10.00

Beaver wall hanging - I wrapped a 6" metal hoop with several types of leather, then suspended the right lower jawbone of a beaver in the center. The bone has been painted with brown acrylics, and is suspended with brown waxed linen cord. $12.00

Red stag wall hanging - The piece of shoulderblade from an unknown animal that creates the base of this wall hanging was shaped exactly like this--I did no carving, sanding, or shaping of it. I did, however, paint it (the picture doesn't do it justice) and added a leather ear and antler. It has a brown waxed cord for hanging. I'm really, really pleased with how this guy turned out. $10.00

Canine wall hanging - The frame for this 3" diameter wall hanging is actually the core for an old costume bracelet whose old wrapping unravelled. I wrapped it with deerskin and stretched another piece of deerskin across it. I then painted a wolfish canine on it in brown acrylics paint. Has a small loop for hanging on the wall. $5.00

Wall hanging - I wrapped a 4" diameter metal hoop with golden deerskin (brighter than the picture shows) and suspended a piece of rawhide in the center. I painted a coyote (or other canid) paw in the center, and added a tuft of coyote fur at the bottom of the hoop. $9.00

Dragon wall hanging - I started with a scapula from a deer and carved a dragon with two forelegs and a long tail on it with a Dremel. I then painted the dragon in blue and green and did a wash of blue over the entire thing. I made the hanging cord and decorative strings out of a single braid of blue and green yarn. The wall hanging (not including the ends of the yarn) measures just over 7" long. The scan really doesn't do justice to this piece! $15.00
