Ritual Tools and Altar Items

I've been a practicing pagan since the mid-1990s. I enjoy creating ritual tools for others, and have a few I've made for myself. All of these items are made specifically for sacred use, not just display.

Bone knife with deer skull stand - I made a bone knife with a cow bone blade and deer leg handle. The handle is painted with green, copper, gold and brown acrylics, and wrapped with reddish-brown deerskin and glass pony beads; it measures 14" long fron tip to pommel. A five point whitetail deer skull serves as the stand, painted in the same colors, with mottled gold and copper on the antlers. He is 10" wide x 11" long x 10 1/2" tall. Stands better on a hard surface rather than carpet. $100 for the set (sold as set only).

Altar cloth - This took me a few weeks to complete since there was a lot of stitching, and I sew by hand exclusively. I started with the bottom layer made of six grey rabbit pelts, and then added two layers of leather, one brown and one black. I then edged the leather in brown and grey rabbit fur. It measures about 30" x 32" or so, with irregular edges. The pictures really don't do this justice--they make it look a bit lumpier than it actually is. Definitely a one of a kind! $50.00

Bone knife - I started with a cow bone blade and reshaped it with a Dremel. It has somewhat of an edge, though nothing that can really cut. The handle is a deer leg bone wrapped in deerskin and hair-on cowhide, as well as braided artificial sinew and linene cord. The blade is accented with brown and gold paint, and the pommel has a dangle with several bone beads on the end. Not including the dangle, the knife is 10" long. The sheath has an inner layer of leather and is wrapped in deerskin and hair-on cowhide, as well as braided cord. It has two braided cord belt loops. The sheath is 7 1/2" long. $60.00

Deer skull rattle - This is a doe skull I found out in the woods a while back. I painted her with a design of a hawk and the sun (definitely a solar theme there!) and filled the brain cavity with beads and small stones; the resulting rattle is sharp, but not overly loud, with soft undertones. The handle is part of a deer legbone, and is wrapped with black deerskin. The entire rattle measures 16" long end to end. $35.00

Pigeon feather fan - I found this old piece of bone years ago and decided to make it into the handle of a small fan for ritual purposes. I added three pigeon feather in various greys and wrapped them in silver thread. 8 1/4" long. Good for a sage smudge or other air magic. $6.00
