Materials: Deer antler, cow bone, leather, acrylic paint, copper pine cone charm, waxed linen cord
Knife length: 11 1/2"
Sheath length: 10"
Description: This is a bone knife with a whitetail deer antler handle, 11 1/4" long. I decided that I would make a PNW tree-themed knife, so I chose to honor the hardy, ever-present Douglas fir. The hilt is wrapped in green leather from a coat, detailed with a little bit of brown paint. The pommel has an oval of leather, with a fir cone painted on it. The sheath is more of the same leather, with a full fir tree painted on it and braided waxed linen belt loops. At the top I added a lovely three dimensional copper charm--sure, it's a generic pine cone, but the demand for cone-shaped metal charms isn't that great, so hey, it suffices--and it looks great!
